Brookside Fire Service - Risk Assessment

Workplace fires are estimated to cost industries over 1 billion pounds each year, and in extreme cases some companies are unable to resume business because the fire damage is so extensive.

According to the Home Office, UK fire brigades attended over 36,000 workplace fires in 1997. These resulted in the deaths of 30 people, while over 2,600 employees were injured after they suffered burns or the effects of smoke inhalation.

You may be aware of the Fire Protection (Workplace) Act 1997, and the amendments of December 1999. What this means, is that any firm or company that has one or more employees must carry out a Fire Risk Assessment. It makes no difference if you have a fire certificate, and there are no exceptions.

This is going to open the way for "consultants", some with questionable credibility, to try and make a lot of money out of you. We have heard of some quotes ranging from £800 to £2000 for information only, to enable you to carry out your own assessment. This could leave you paying out a lot of money, but still not having an assessment that is acceptable to the Fire Brigade.

We at Brookside Fire Service have the expertise to carry out and produce your Fire Risk Assessment, at a very reasonable cost. As an existing customer, we hope that we have already developed your trust, and this is just one more way that we can be of benefit to you. All risk assessments conform with BS ISO 19706: 2007.
